Year 6 Dallowgill Residential:

Our Year 6 pupils were the first group of students who were able to go on a residential to the newly refurbished and renovated outdoor provision centre, ‘Dallowgill’. Located in North Yorkshire the centre has accommodation for extended visits, washrooms, classrooms, and a kitchen. There has also been a fire pit built outside.

Our Year 6 pupils participated in a variety of interesting activities such as a trek to the Greygarth Monument, a water filtration investigation, and shelter building using materials from the woodland floor. Plus, developing vital life skills such as making beds, cooking and cleaning up.

Year 5 Literacy Event at Mexborough Business Centre:

The Mexborough Business Centre invited our Year 5 pupils to take part in the filming of ‘The One Show’, to show Montagu Academy’s partnership with The National Literacy Trust, and how we work together to develop reading for pleasure within the academy. The pupils took part in three different activities, storytelling, illustration, and had the opportunity to take a book home with them.

Year 6 Visit to Crucial Crew:

Our Year 6 pupils were invited to take part in an emergency services initiative organised by South Yorkshire Police entitled ‘The Crucial Crew’. This involved the children participating in role play situations focusing on safety in and around the house and the community. The event was held at Hellaby Hall Industrial Estate, Rotherham. The children had a fantastic time and took part in a variety of interesting activities throughout the day.

Year 4 Tree-Planting Event at The Laurel Academy

Our Year 4 pupils were invited to take part in a tree-planting event at The Laurel Academy. They each planted their own tree and had a plaque to write their name on and if they choose to attend The Laurel Academy in a few years time they will be able to see how much their tree has grown. They all had a lovely morning and really enjoyed the event.

Year 4 Literacy Workshop at Mexborough Business Centre

Our Year 4 pupils were invited to take part in a fantastic opportunity to present their work at Mexborough Business Centre. They had previously taken part in workshops with Philip Shepperd, who works along the National Literacy Trust, to develop reading for pleasure. Within these workshops, they focused on the ‘Iron Man’ which was written by Ted Hughes. They had created illustrations of the Iron Man and wrote a poem about the Iron Man, which they had the opportunity to perform at the Mexborough Business Centre in front of Doncaster Councillors and the Doncaster Press.

Year 6 Poetry Event at Mexborough Business Centre

Our Year 6 pupils were invited to take part in a fantastic poetry workshop with Paul Cookson at Mexborough Business Centre. They had a great afternoon of poetry and were lucky enough to be gifted 20 brand new books for their classroom by Doncaster Stories and The National Literacy Trust.

Year 1 Visit to Yorkshire Wildlife Park

Our Year 1 pupils had a great day out to Yorkshire Wildlife Park. This was their very first experience of a school trip and they thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Both classes were able to participate in a hands-on educational experience where they got to hold and touch some animals. They also explored Yorkshire Wildlife Park and saw lions, giraffes, polar bears, monkeys, rhinos and much more animals. They all had a wonderful day out and did our academy proud!
